Your True Light is Already (and Always) Shining

1 John 2:8 "Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining."

Even in a dark and troubled world, there are things new and better.

John is often called the “Apostle of Love” because of the emphasis he placed on the God kind of love. Jesus came into this dark world full of “grace and truth” because of the "John 3:16" love of God.

John reminds believers about this love in his letter concerning a “New Commandment.” Jesus introduced this new commandment based on loving God and loving one another as the foundation of a new order for living (John 13:34). Love has overtaken legalism, just as light overtakes darkness. The Ten Commandments have been fulfilled and all made-made rules have been nullified through God's love.

Because of God’s love, victorious living emerges from loving relationships, not from lifeless rules which we don’t have the power to keep.

Now, here is the “thing” that is “true in Him and in you:"
Darkness is already (and always) passing away because the “True Light” of God’s love through Christ, is already (and always) shining on you!
