Give Thanks! Show Forth His Praise!

Psalm 79:13, So we, Your people and sheep of Your pasture, Will give You thanks forever; We will show forth Your praise to all generations.

Giving thanks to God is one of the best things we do!

We all have much for which to be thankful. Not even our challenges and difficulties outweigh all the goodness and blessing that God has brought into our lives!

I am thankful to be one of God's sheep and to be safely dwelling in His pasture. There are many people today who lack the security of good people and a good place to dwell. There is no one like Jesus, and no place like his church. We are never alone!

Take time today not only to bless your meal, but to give God thanks and show His praise to all generations, from the youngest to the oldest!

Happy Thanksgiving 2014 to you and yours from Pastor Bryan & Patricia Hudson, and family!

How to Be Strong in Times of Weakness

Tuesday, November 11, 2014 Bryan Hudson 0 Comments

Ephesians 6:10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil...18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

Here are some definitions of “strong”:
1) Having or marked by great physical power, 2) Having moral or intellectual power, 3) Having great resources (as of wealth or talent) 4) Having a specified number, such as  “an army ten thousand strong, 5) Effective especially in a specified direction

The last definition best describes the kind of strength we need everyday. Rosa Parks did not have great physical strength, but she was strong in a "specified direction." Her strength in refusing to sit at the back of a bus, empowered others and helped transform our nation. Strength or weakness has everything to do with your direction and focus. God’s assignments on your life become your greatest source of strength. Weakness comes from only focusing on our own interests.

Your direction determines your destiny. Your assignment determines your ascent.

People usually cope with, excuse, or manage their weaknesses. When you embrace your weakness in God's Word and Presence, you are ready to exchange it for strength. Grace is always a transforming power. The defining factor is not what you have (weakness), but what you are willing to give up for something better (strength).

The Apostle learned this in his assignment: 2 Corinthians 12:9, And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me....For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Remember, being strong in the Lord is all about your direction and focus. Prayer, time in the Word, and keeping your God-given assignments provides a basis for gaining strength.

Be strong in the Lord and in your life today!

Facts about Favor

Proverbs 3:3, Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

A lot has been said and written about the favor of God. Everyone wants favor, which really amounts to help, opportunity, or preferential treatment from God and people. As much as we may talk about self-reliance, the fact remains that we all want help and special treatment.

Divine favor, or favor from God, happens in very unusual ways.  Favor can be “supernatural” in your life, because your circumstances require it. Not everyone is well “connected.” Natural favor comes by associating with the "right” people. In some instances, if you are blessed with good looks and the right body type, this will help attract natural favor.

According to Proverbs 3:3, we can find supernatural favor with both God and man by two means; love and faithfulness.

God is love. Jesus gave his life because of God’s love for us. People make great sacrifices for others because of love. Love is the greatest and most trustworthy motivator. When you walk in the God kind of love, you abide in a special place of God's power and presence. Not only is love a motivator for positive action, it is also a great power of attraction. Love attracts favor.

Faithfulness attracts favor. In a world of absent commitment and shaky fidelity, faithfulness stands out like a mountain on the horizon.  One year, we vacationed in the Seattle-Tacoma area of Washington. For me, the most amazing sight was Mount Rainier standing tall at 14,400 feet. It was visible from almost any part of both cities. Coming from Indianapolis, which is essentially flat, the sight of that mountain was inspiring and reassuring.

Faithfulness is like Mount Rainier. You can't miss it or ignore it. You can't imagine a landscape without it. You look for it when needing direction.

When love and faithfulness are bound within our hearts, we attract supernatural favor from God and man. You won't have to play mind games, ride somebody's coattails, or be apprehensive. Walking in love and faithfulness through Christ is enough.
