DAY 8 - Wisdom in Your “Hidden Season” | Wisdom Becomes You October Devotional

Proverbs 8:17, “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”

A hidden season is a period of time where God draws you close to Himself to do a work inside of you.  In the life of the Apostle Paul, his hidden season amounted to three years in Arabia soon after his conversion to Christ (Galatians 1:11-19). For our Lord Jesus, his first hidden season was from childhood to 30 years of age, when he began his earthly ministry after the baptism of John (Luke 3:1-23). He experienced another hidden season when he was taken by the spirit into the wilderness for 40 days (Luke 4:1-4).

Daily, Jesus spent time alone with Father God in prayer.  On occasions, he would send multitudes of people away just so he could be alone with God. These were forms of hidden season that we call devotions.

Regardless of the form it takes, a hidden season is time for God to work deeply on the inside of you. It is not something to tell other people about or put on Facebook. It is something between you and God. Here are some of the good things that happen in your hidden season:

1. You see things you could not see any other way.
2. You experience internal growth
3. You grow in wisdom and stature
4. You learn to trust God’s timing and become less restless and learn patience
5. You learn to refocus on an audience of one, God
6. You gain the endorsement of God and no longer need the endorsement of man, “This is my Son”
7. You learn to rest in God’s endorsement, and you become less sensitive slights and criticisms
