Reset Your Outlook

In an increasingly petty and narrow-minded world, it is good for us to consider God's greatness and elevate our thinking to cause us to become more purposeful in our times.

As a lifelong photographer, lately I have become more involved in the hobby of Astro photography, which is taking photographs of objects in space. David wrote in Psalm 145:5, "I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, And on Your wondrous works."

Today, within and near our cities, light pollution hinders seeing the night sky as David and others saw it. If you ever have been in a place without city lights, you know how spectacular the night sky is. But this is an experience that very few have had the pleasure of witnessing.

There is something life-lifting in meditating on the works of God. We often marvel at the works of man, but nothing compares to the works of God. This is not something we need for our faith, but it is certainly an inspiring example of the bigness of God, in the midst of the smallness of this world.

David also wrote in Psalm 19:1-3, "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard."

The heavens are the skies, both the daytime and night skies, going into space. The heavens declare God’s creative glory and his power to regulate all things. David said that day and night utter speech. It also reveals knowledge. God speaks to us through His creation and challenges us to expand our knowledge. Jesus used parables about nature to illuminate truth.

I challenge you to elevate your thinking and remove yourself from the petty and pointless things of this world that compete for your attention. As a matter of fact, when you meditate on the glorious splendor of God's majesty and on His wondrous works, you will experience a reset in your outlook and in your thinking. By looking at a big God, you will see yourself in proper perspective and realize your help and strength are available from Christ.

On this blog, there is a video compilation of astro images collected over the past few months, and a few from recent years. There's also a link below to my online gallery, as well as a video from the 2017 total eclipse of the sun.

Let these images and video inspire you to view your life through the lens of God's greatness, not the lens of these troubled times. Reset your outlook.

Imago Dei: My Mind & The Mind of Christ | What Does The Bible Say About Mental Health?

1 Corinthians 2:16, For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Philippians 4:7, And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Having the mind of Christ means sharing the plan, purpose, and perspective of Christ, and it is something that all believers possess. The believer lives a life under God’s influence

The Bible has a lot to say about the mind. However, the mind is not the brain. This is a misconception that needs to be overcome.

The Bible says nothing specifically about mental health.

The Bible talks about health, but does not differentiate what parts of the body or one’s life need to be healthy. God’s concept of healing is the total person, spirit, soul, and body

When understood properly, biblical truth and scientific/physiological truth are not competing concepts, but complimentary concepts.

Each serves a different purpose.

1 Corinthians 15:9, For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

"Imago Dei: The Life You Live"

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”

Galatians, 2:8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
