"A Place Called Forward" - Firm Foundation inspiration Minute #141 for October 23, 2024

“A Place Called Forward”

Exodus 14:13, And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14]The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace." 15]  And the LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. 16] But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

Forward defined: To cause to proceed or progress toward a goal. To cause to go or be taken from one place, person, or condition to another.

Forward is a place to which God leads people of purpose and destiny. Forward is a place that stretches your faith and exercises your prayer life. Forward is the place and the direction the vision takes you.

Israel was in a crisis. It was a crisis on different levels:
1. There was the original crisis of being held in bondage
2. Was the crisis of being delivered from bondage
3. There was the crisis of having a bondage mindset, after being delivered
4. There was the crisis of being pursued by the Egyptian's from behind and facing the barrier of the Red Sea in front.

What I find amazing about this story, is that God knew what the people did not know. They were not only being delivered from the crisis of bondage and slavery, they were being delivered from their own fear of progress. It was the rebellion of the people that led to captivity in Egypt for 400 years. For the people being delivered, Egypt and bondage and slavery was all they knew. They only heard about their heritage and the promised land.

What is increase from a kingdom, biblical perspective?
Why is it essential to understand the difference between resources and Sources?
What hinders increase?

LISTEN TO PODCAST

Philippians 4:11-13, Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

Resource: A supply of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively.

Source: A point of origin or procurement; any thing or place from which something comes, arises, or is obtained

The Perils of Low Information

Tuesday, October 15, 2024 Bryan Hudson 0 Comments

Some thoughts for our times: "THE PERILS OF LOW INFORMATION"

At 67 years old, I have arrived at a place to be intellectually, financially, and politically independent. I am free to serve God's kingdom and our community. In other words, I am free to share what is on my heart and mind. Not everyone is in that position.
One of my ethics is to “speak the truth in love.” (Ephesians 4:15) Arriving at truth requires research and source documentation. This requires TIME and EFFORT.

One of the worst developments in our time is that people have become content only to listen to narratives and be content with “low information.” A narrative is an interpretation of a story. A narrative can be an accurate or inaccurate summary. Unfortunately, when people refuse to take the time and effort to examine source documentation, they are only subject to what they are told. This is the peril of low information. Many, like Donald Trump, use lies to persuade those who are content with (false) narratives and low information.

There is no question that the Lord Jesus Christ is faithful and true. God's word is faithful and true. However, people and their institutions are not always faithful to God. Carrying the title "Christian" is no guarantee of faithfulness to God.

We remember that there were people who called themselves “Christians” who owned other people made in God's image and likeness. American slavery was perpetuated by Christians (without Christ). Even to this day, slavery is justified in versions of history taught by some Christians. Bad theology has been the root of some harmful beliefs and practices.

So the only reliable measure of one's true character is what Jesus said, “A tree is known by its fruit.” – Things actually said, done, and embraced.

As a thinker, researcher, and writer, I don't only pontificate, but seek to publish. Things that are written should not be uncritically embraced. It is good to be challenged, because no one is above correction.

Here are two pieces I have written that share points of view for your consideration:

The Steward's Blessing: Wisdom, Provision, Empowerment

Sunday, October 13, 2024 Bryan Hudson 0 Comments

Romans 14:12, So then each of us shall give account of himself to God

1 Corinthians 4:1-2, Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. 7 For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

Paul used the word “steward” which is oikonomos (οἰκονόμος) in the Greek.

It was a word understood by people in his day. Oikonomos was the “major domo” or the person in charge of the administration of the house or estate.

Being a good steward brings and produces WISDOM, PROVISION & EMPOWERMENT

WISDOM: Knowing what to do
PROVISION: Fully supply from the owner
EMPOWERMENT: Able to empower others

Our Level of Stewardship is Evident
Proverbs 24:30-32, I went by the field of the lazy man, And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding; 31 And there it was, all overgrown with thorns; Its surface was covered with nettles; Its stone wall was broken down. 32 When I saw it, I considered it well; I looked on it and received instruction:

"What Time Reveals" - Firm Foundation inspiration Minute #138 for October 2, 2024

Tuesday, October 01, 2024 Bryan Hudson 0 Comments

“What Time Reveals”

Psalm 37:25, I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread

Galatians 6:7, Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap...9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Here is one of the not-so-secret secrets to tapping into God's best for your life:

1. Sow good seed, consistently
2. Don't grow weary doing the right things
3. Do good to all, especially fellow Christ followers.
