Day #18 Quiet On The Set | Lesson by Min. Corey Jones, M.Div. - February 21-Day Firm Foundation Devotional: “Principles of Empowerment”
DAY #18: Quiet on the Set
Lesson by Min. Corey Jones, M.Div.
1 John 3:17-19 NKJV, But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we [a]know that we are of the truth, and shall [b]assure our hearts before Him.
One of my favorite movie genres is action films. While I’ve never been part of a production team, the videographer in me enjoys fast-moving shots, high-speed drone footage, and the sound design that heightens the intensity of the plot. But before any scene is recorded, someone always calls out: “Quiet on the set!”
Life can feel just like an action film—full of twists, turns, acceleration, and unexpected plot changes. As we walk in Christ and strive to “love in deed and truth” (1 John 3:18), I want to encourage you to take a moment and say, “Quiet on the set!”
Solitude is a powerful tool in our spiritual journey. In the midst of life's noise, we can silence notifications, turn off the music, pause the news, and spend intentional time with our Lord and Savior. Since love is truly the ultimate action word, let’s carve out moments of stillness, allowing God to put His love into action in our lives.
Take time today to be still and let His love move through you.
Prayer:
God I’m on borrowed time, help me to see the importance of saying quiet on the set. Bless my alone time with you. Give me wisdom and discernment to make adjustments to my schedule to be available to soak in your presence. In Jesus name, Amen."
